July 4th, 2010

Today was a travel day, by car...something unique thus far. We left Snoqualmie at 10 as planned and headed down Washington Rte. 18 over Tiger Mountain to I-5 south. It was a delightful drive given that it was a holiday so the only trucks on the road appeared to be from British Columbia. All the other drivers were incredibly polite. I guess I have lived in the east too long.

We stopped in Portland, OR and had Dim Sum in Chinatown. We arrived in Eugene, OR without incident at 3:30. As you can see from my numerous recent posts dated today I had an opportunity to get caught up on the blog.

Eugene, OR is probably a lovely place however we arrived on the afternoon of a national holiday, and it was a Sunday none the less, so there wasn't much going on. We settled for drinks and dinner at an Applebee's by our hotel. As I type this we are listening to "bombs bursting in air" but don't see much visible fireworks activity.

Tomorrow we will be heading south for Mt. Shasta and a much anticipated reunion of the Coho girls and their respective families. Lee will be cooking an Alaskan seafood feast featuring the seafood they caught while in there in June. We will also be celebrating Maybelle's 7th birthday by going bowling on Tuesday. Wednesday we will be whitewater rafting before attending Carol's concert scheduled for Wednesday evening.

Life is great for us and we trust it is as well for you and yours.

  1. You had dim sum??? Do you have the name of the restaurant? Maybe we can stop there on our way to or from Cannon Beach. So jealous:).

Godspeed and safe travels. We LOVED having you visit, and as usual, it felt too short a time:).
