Visalia - Batth Ranch Part I

A fellow CARF surveyor, Jag Batth, and his family live in Caturthers. His parents immigrated from India about 40 years ago to become farmers. His uncle owns 15,000 acres and is the largest raisin producer in California. In addition to grapes (for raisins, table grapes and wine) they grow peaches and almonds. His cousin, Ken, in parntership with his brother, now run the daily operations. Here Ken and Jag are inspecting an almond tree.

A close up of immature almonds. They will be ready for harvest in September.

Ripening grapes for wine. Gallo purchases their grapes.

The photos do not do justice to vastness of the ranch. Here we are looking down a road 1 mile long lined with almond trees on each side.

What's this??? Another picture of Doug and I and it is actually a good one. We are standing under an arbor of Thompson Seedless Grapes that are destined to end up one someone's table.
